UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND (Oct.5, 2012) - The Spiders fell to the La Salle Explorers 2-1 despite rally late in the second half in the A-10 home opener on Friday night at Robins Stadium.

La Salle struck first on midfielder Courtney Niemec's header from midfielder Maryam Huseini in the 28th minute of play. La Salle's Leigh Gray struck four minutes later on an assist from Maryam Huseini and Gabriella Carbone.
Senior midfielder Kristin Lescalleet (Richmond, Va./Atlee) responded in the 77th minute of play with a 43 yard goal, putting the Spiders on the board. The score was Lescalleet's first career goal.
Juniors Becca Wann (Chesterfield, Va./ Cosby) and Crystal Koczot (Wheaton, Md./ Our Lady of Good Counsel) led the Spiders with three shots each.
Senior goalkeeper Andrea Young (Trumbull, CT/ Trumbull) had eight saves in goal. Gaby Pakhitgian earned five saves in the net for the Explorers.
