Spiders Travel North For First Road Swing

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond (1-1) plays at Boston University Friday at 7 p.m. in its first road game of the season. The Spiders continue action with Hartford Sunday at 2 p.m.

Boston enters Friday's game with a 1-1 mark, having beat
Boston College in its season-opener and falling short against No. 14 West
Virginia, 60-57 on Monday. Chantell Alford scored a career-high 30 points in
the loss to the Mountaineers and leads Terrier scoring at 23.0 ppg. Alford and
Whitney Turner lead BU rebounding with 8.0 rpg. The Terriers are hitting 35
percent of their long-range shots and are shooting 38 percent from the field. Also
contributing to Terrier scoring is Mo Moran and her 11.5 ppg. Moran already has
12 assists this season, four times as many as any other player on the squad.
Moran also has a team-high six steals. Rashidat Agboola is chipping in with 9.0
ppg and is shooting a team-leading 53 percent from the field (8-of-15). Agboola
is third on the team with 12 rebounds.
Spiders Head To Northeast To Play America East
Richmond embarks on its first road swing of the season this
weekend, visiting America East members Boston University and Hartford. Richmond
went 2-0 against these teams last winter in the Robins Center. The Spiders downed
Boston 72-60 Nov. 18, 2011 and defeated Hartford 69-56 Dec. 22, 2011. Rachael
Bilney scored 19 in the win over BU, while two-sport athlete led Richmond with
18 points in the win over the Hawks. Both teams were WNIT participants last
season.
Last Time Out
Richmond beat the Terriers, 72-60,
last November in the Robins Center. The Spiders went on a crucial 8-0 run late
in the second half to seal the victory. Bilney poured in a team-high 19 points,
while Liz Brown and Genevieve Okoro added 15 and 14 points, respectively. Brown
went 7-for-7 from the field. The Spiders shot 42 percent from the field and
made 12-of-14 free-throws. The Spiders also dished 22 assists and had nine
steals.
