Spiders Lately
Richmond won its first two
games of the Cancun Challenge Thanksgiving weekend with wins over Minnesota and
Wichita State. In Richmond's 58-46 win over the Gophers, Genevieve Okoro pulled
down a career-high 17 rebounds and had 12 points. The 17 rebounds were the most
by a Spider since Kate Flavin recorded 22 rebounds in a win over GW in 2002. The
Spiders gutted out the win over the Shockers, 49-46, behind Rachael Bilney's
season-high 20 points. Richmond eventually fell to Wisconsin-Green Bay the
following day to conclude the tournament. Okoro suffered a season-ending ACL tear
in the game against Wichita State, sidelining her for the rest of the 2012-13
season. Okoro's 11.0 rebounds per game ranked first on the team, second in the
A-10 and 25th in the country. Okoro had registered three double-doubles this
season. She was tabbed to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference second team.
