Barry, Cooke And Zarkoski Named All-State

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond sophomore Rebecca Barry was named VaSID First-Team All-State, while junior Anna Zarkoski and freshman Amy Cooke were tabbed to the Second-Team.
Barry, who was already named NFHCA First-Team All-South Region, First-Team All-Atlantic 10 this fall, led the Spiders in goals (18), assists (9) and points (45), ranking 13th in the nation in both goals per game and points per game. The Limerick, Ireland native scored nine game-winning goals and one of her goals made ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays Of The Day.
Zarkoski, who was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First-Team, made 46 saves and had a 1.39 goals against average. She missed time to play in the Junior Pan-Am Games with Team USA, but in the 17 games she was in net for Richmond, Zarkoski was 14-3 with six shutouts.
Cooke, who was named NFHCA Second-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Atlantic 10, was a standout on defense in her first season with the Spiders. She led a unit that held opponents to a 1.43 goals against average, which ranked 12th in the nation. Richmond's defense also averaged 0.33 shutouts per game, which was fifth in the nation. The Ballyclare, Northern Ireland native scored one goal and had six assists for eight points.
The Spiders finished the season 16-5 overall and won their eighth Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship in the last 11 years. Richmond was nationally ranked for most of the season, peaking at No. 16.
