Spiders Play At UNCG Saturday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Winners of three-straight, the Spiders play at UNC Greensboro Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Spartans come into Saturday's contest with a 1-5 mark.
UNCG's win came against Gardner-Webb Nov. 17 in a 55-49 decision at home. Since
then, the Spartans have dropped three-straight. Lucy Mason leads UNCG scoring
with 14.3 ppg and 14 steals on the season. Mason has made a team-best 35 field
goals. Janae Stevenson follows with 8.2 ppg and has sunk a team-best 15
free-throws. Jarae Savage leads UNCG rebounding with 6.0 rpg. Eight players
play 18 minutes or more and six of those players chip in with five points or
more per game. UNCG is being outrebounded by almost nine boards per game, but
are turning the ball over five times as less. The two teams share one common
opponent in the College of Charleston.
Richmond Lately
Richmond's first-half scoring flurry led to a 65-51 victory
over Virginia Tech Wednesday night at the Robins Center. Richmond's 41 points
were the most first-half points Virginia Tech has surrendered this season. The Spiders' bench outscored the
Hokies 21-7 at the break and dished 11 assists. Richmond's accuracy from the
field was staggering (15-of-25, 60%) as was its long-range excellence (6-of-7, 85.7%).
Rachael Bilney led Spider scoring with 16 points and Becca Wann continued her
off-the-bench brilliance with 15 points and five assists.
The Teams
Richmond meets UNCG for the
third time in the young series, holding a 2-0 advantage. The Spiders most recently downed the
Spartans, 75-60, last Dec. in the Robins Center. Rachael Bilney had 12 points
and Becca Wann chipped in with 10.

Richmond will take an 11-day break for exam week. The Spiders return to action,
Wednesday, Dec. 19 when they host Florida Gulf Coast a 7 p.m. at the Robins
Center.
