
Lacrosse Returns Home Wednesday Against Tribe

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond returns to Robins Stadium Thursday at 7 p.m. against the Tribe of William & Mary.
The Spiders have played six-straight on the road, and return home for the first time since Feb. 19. Richmond comes into the contest 3-5, with its most notable win against No. 13 James Madison, 13-12, Mar. 10. Caitlin Fifield scored a hat trick in the win. Fifield previously scored a season-high five goals in the win over ODU, for which she was awarded A-10 Player of the Week honors.
The Spiders are led by Tewaarton Watch list nominee Mary Flowers' 20 goals, 13 assists and team-best 33 points. Flowers has notched a team-high 40 shots, grabbed 23 ground balls, and secured 29 draw controls, while causing 21 turnovers. Nationally, Flowers ranks fourth in caused turnovers per game (2.63), 23rd in assists (13.0) and 18th in overall points (33). As a team, Richmond ranks 11th in the country in ground balls per game (17.88).
Fifield also recorded 20 goals and earned Richmond's first A-10 Player of the Week accolade Mar. 18. Sam Stevenson follows with 18 goals, while Kara Moschetti added 12 goals.
All Rookie selection Taylor Blazer leads the team with 25 ground balls, and ranks 15th in the country in ground balls per game (3.13). Senior goalkeeper Victoria Roebuck secured 83 saves thus far, ranking third in the country. Roebuck's 12.0 keeps per game ranks second nationally.
Richmond dropped last year's matchup to the Tribe, 18-13. William & Mary comes into the game with a 2-6 mark, with wins over Virginia Tech and Longwood. Taelor Salmon leads Tribe scoring with 18 goals, while four others have notched double-digit goals this season.
Richmond continues its home play with rival Massachusetts Friday, Mar. 30 at 11 a.m. in both teams' conference opener.
