Former Spider Ina Nicosia Wins National Championship

Former Spider, Ina Nicosia-Schelker, guided the Swiss basketball team to the 2012 Championship of Swiss Universities in May.
Nicosia-Schelker was a two sport-athlete Richmond, and still ranks second for rebounds in a game (22). Nicosia-Schelker ranks 10th for rebounds (263) in a single season. She also led Richmond to its first-ever CAA champion in track and field and holds school records in javelin, discus and shotput.
The victory marked Nicosia-Schelker's second National Championship, having also won the title in the NLB league in 2010.
Uni Basel Basket defeated University of Geneva in the championship game. Basel qualified to participate in the European Championships, next summer in Croatia.
