Spiders' Taylor Named To Senior Bowl Watch List
08/24/2012 | Football
MOBILE, Ala. - University of Richmond Spiders senior DB Cooper Taylor has been selected to the Senior Bowl Watch List announced Friday.
The list includes the nation's top seniors and NFL prospects from around the nation, as the top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, scheduled for Jan. 26 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
Taylor is one of just 29 players on the Senior Bowl Watch List from a non-FBS school and one of four selected from the CAA Football conference.
"The Senior Bowl is very pleased to announce our first-ever 'official' Watch List," Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil Savage said in a press release. "We want both college and pro football fans to enjoy tracking the players on our list as they begin their journey towards the Senior Bowl and the 2013 NFL Draft. We have included prospects from almost every level of the college game and look forward to monitoring their progress throughout the upcoming season."
After transferring from Georgia Tech prior to the 2011 season, Taylor has made an immediate impact with Richmond. Starting in all eight games in which he appeared last season, Taylor recorded 63 tackles, including 20 solo and 1.5 for loss, a forced fumble, an interception, a QB hurry and three pass breakups.
The 6-5, 235-pound safety's best game in a Spider uniform came in last year's win at Duke where Taylor registered 14 tackles, including five solo and 1.0 for a loss of two yards, a forced fumble, a QB hurry, and a pass breakup.
