
Field Hockey Heads North For Tough A-10 Matchups

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond field hockey team heads north for a tough Atlantic 10 weekend, facing No. 12 Massachusetts Friday at 1 p.m. before taking on Lock Haven at 12 p.m. Sunday.
The Spiders look to keep the win streak alive as they have defeated five-straight teams to boast a 10-5 overall record, while being 3-0 in the league. In the last five wins, Richmond has outscored its opponents 23-3, with two shutouts.
Junior Rebecca Barry leads the Spiders with 12 goals, six assists and 30 points, which ranks her in the top five in both goals and points categories in the A-10.
On Friday, Richmond will face top-20 opponent and reigning A-10 Champion Massachusetts. The Minutewomen hold an overall record of 12-4 and are 3-0 in the conference. Brooke Sabia who has 16 goals, an assist and 33 points leads the team, while Sam Carlino will be in goal as she is 12-4 on the season with 60 saves.
Following Friday, the Spiders will head to Lock Haven on Sunday for a 12 p.m. matchup. The Bald Eagles are 12-4 on the season and 2-1 in the A-10. Lock Haven fell to Saint Francis, 2-1, last weekend. The team is led by Nakira Downes with 10 goals, eight assists and 28 points. Elaina White will be in goal for Lock Haven as she is 12-4 with 91 saves.
