Field Hockey To Close Out Regular Season At Home

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond field hockey team returns home after a three-game road swing Friday when it hosts La Salle at 3:30 p.m., before closing out the regular season Sunday against Saint Joseph's at 12 p.m. at Crenshaw Field.
The Spiders are coming off a 2-1 Atlantic 10 win over Lock Haven this past Sunday to improve to 11-6 on the season and 4-1 in the A-10. Senior Chelsea Davies and sophomore Taylor Deitrick found the back of the cage for the win. Senior goalkeeper Anna Zarkoski has been phenomenal in goal for Richmond this season as she leads the nation in goals against average with .860.
Friday Richmond will welcome the La Salle Explorers to Crenshaw Field for a 3:30 p.m. game time. The Explorers are 5-12 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. The one A-10 win came this past weekend when La Salle topped Saint Louis, 7-2, on Sunday.
Olivia Shoemaker leads the Explorers with 13 goals, five assists and 31 points this season, while Lisa Shaffer will be in goal as she is 5-12 on the season and has 150 saves.
After facing VCU Friday, Richmond will welcome Saint Joseph's to campus Sunday at 12 p.m. The Hawks enter the week 6-11 on the year and 3-2 in the A-10, as they are on a two-game winning streak.
Jordan Martin leads Saint Joseph's with eight goals, seven assists and 23 points, while Rachel Barnett will be in goal as she is 5-8 on the season with 24 goals allowed.
Sunday is Senior Day for the Spiders and the Richmond Athletic Department will honor the five seniors, Davies, Zarkoski, Jessica Hollis, Christina Amorose and Paige Venables prior to game time.
