UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond was edged by Saint Louis, 1-0, Friday night at Robins Stadium.
The Spiders outshot the Billikens, 21-5, led by Shannon Colligan and Kaleigh Kurtz's four attempts. Richmond had a flurry of shots in the game's last two minutes off two separate corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net.
Saint Louis (3-8-1, 2-0-0) was a player down in the second half, as its starting goalie was ejected right before halftime. The Billikens notched the game's only score when Kristen Clemens dribbled up the center and shot from just outside the box seven minutes into the game.
Five other Spiders recorded two shots apiece.
Richmond (3-7-2, 0-2-0) won the corner advantage, 6-2, and Emily Kelly had two saves in goal.
The Spiders continue home action with St. Bonaventure Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
