RICHMOND, Va.- Marisa Ruskan earned the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region honors after her individual best 25th-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional last weekend.
“Marisa had a great race on Friday and a tremendous freshman season highlighted by this honor and her selection as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year,” said head women's cross country coach Lori Taylor. “She is dedicated to becoming the best at this level and we couldn't be more excited and thrilled to have her leading our program. This is quite an honor and to achieve it as a freshman exemplifies her talent, work ethic and competitiveness.”
Ruskan was one of 450 athletes recognized for their top 25 individual performances at one of the nine NCAA regional sites.
Ruskan had a strong freshman campaign for the Spiders, consistently knocking on the door to lead the team before doing so with her top-25 finish at the Southeast Regional.
This honor is just the beginning of a bright future for Ruskan at the University of Richmond.
