
Four Spiders Earn NFHCA All-Region Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Rebecca Barry, sophomore Amy Cooke and senior Anna Zarkoski of the Richmond field hockey team earned Longstreth/NFHCA First-Team All-Region honors, while senior Chelsea Davies was a Second-Team selection, announced Tuesday morning by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Barry led the Spiders with 15 goals, seven assists and 37 points to earn the First-Team All-Region honors for the second-straight season. The Limerick, Ireland native finished the season ranked 15th in the nation in goals per game.
Cooke was a standout on defense in her second season as a Spider, helping lead a unit that held opponents to 0.09 goals per game. This is also her second honor this season as she was placed on the All-Atlantic 10 First-Team.
Zarkoski concluded a stellar Richmond career between the pipes as she finished the season with 84 saves, seven shutouts and a 0.85 goals against average that ranks her second in the nation. Zarkoski will represent the Spiders in the 2013 Front Rush NFHCA Senior Game Saturday, Nov. 23 in Norfolk, Va., along with Davies.
This is Davies second honor this season as she was placed on the All-Atlantic 10 First-Team for the third-straight season. The senior finished the season with four goals, nine assists and 17 points.
The Spiders finished the 2013 season 14-7 overall and 6-1 in the A-10 with a second-straight trip to the Atlantic 10 Championship.
