THE SERIES
This is just the third meeting between the two teams in a series dating back to Dec. 21, 2003. The Hurricanes hold the all-time advantage with the two wins. The Spiders and the Hurricanes last met in a year ago when Richmond fell by just six points, 63-69, to a No. 24-ranked Miami squad at the Robins Center. The two losses have come by no more than seven points in each outing.
THE SPIDERS
The Spiders enter Sunday after a tough loss at Georgetown. Richmond fell to the Hoyas 82-78 after cutting a 20 point lead to three with just a minute to play. Georgetown hit four-straight free throws to secure the win. Senior Kristina King led both teams with 21 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Freshman Olivia Healy charted a double-double in her first collegiate appearance knocking down 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
THE HURRICANES
The Hurricanes are coming off a 79-39 win Friday night as they opened their season hosting the North Florida Ospreys. Miami recorded four Hurricanes with double figures. Krystal Saunders led the way with 16 points, including five threes.
OPENED AT GEORGETOWN
Richmond opened its season with a hard fought loss to the Georgetown Hoyas Friday, Nov. 8 in Washington, D.C. After falling behind by 20 points in the last nine minutes of the ball game, Richmond went on a 26-10 run to cut the Hoya lead to just three with 56 seconds left but the Hoyas hit four-straight foul shots to secure the win. Senior Kristina King led the way with a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds.
FRESHMAN DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Freshman Olivia Healy put on an impressive performance in her collegiate debut. The Reading, Mass., native recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds and two steals against the Georgetown Hoyas. She played 34 minutes and went 6-of-8 from the charity stripe.
