
Stellar Defense Leads Spiders Over James Madison

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Cedrick Lindsay's 14 points led five Spiders in double-figures and Richmond held James Madison to 30 percent shooting in a 68-53 win in the Robins Center on Saturday night.
Richmond (6-2) won its third-straight game, having held the opposition to 60 points or less in the last three contests. The Spiders forced James Madison until 30 percent shooting from the field and an 0-of-16 from behind the arc. Richmond blocked a season-high seven shots.
Lindsay, who had a double-double in last season's win over James Madison, came one assist shy of repeating the performance on Saturday. The Washington, D.C. native finished with 14 points and nine assists as he moved into 38th on Richmond's all-time scoring list with 1,034 career points. Lindsay passed Tony Dobbins (1,026), Mike Winiecki (1,031) and Spike Welsh (1,033).
Freshman ShawnDre' Jones scored in double-figures for the second time in the last three games with 13 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting, making all three of his three-point attempts.
Senior Derrick Williams also just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds to go with three blocks. Sophomore Alonzo Nelson-Ododa had 10 points, on 4-of-6 shooting, and seven boards. Sophomore Terry Allen scored in double-figures for the third-straight game with 10 points, six boards and two blocks.
The Spiders never trailed for the second-straight contest, leading by as many as 22 in the second half. Richmond has led by 20 points in each of its last three games.
Richmond will head down the road to Williamsburg to face in-state rival William & Mary on Wednesday. Tip-off in Kaplan Arena is slated for 7 p.m.
