WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Senior guard Cedrick Lindsay scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Richmond Spiders to a 71-60 win at William & Mary on Wednesday night.
Lindsay was dynamic on both ends of the floor, finishing with six assists and six steals to go with his 22 points. Junior guard Kendall Anthony lit it up from deep, hitting five 3-pointers to add 19 points off the bench. Anthony now sits just two treys away from the Richmond top-10 list.
After leading at the half, 36-30, Richmond opened the second half with a 9-2 run to push its lead to 13 points. William & Mary responded with a 20-2 run to take a 55-50 lead with 7:57 left in the game, only to see Lindsay lead the Spiders back.
Richmond ended the game on a 21-5 run, with Lindsay scoring nine-straight points to put the game away. For the game, Richmond shot 50 percent on 25-of-50 shooting from the floor.
"We shot the ball well and our defense was outstanding," Richmond head coach Chris Mooney said. "Other than that one stretch, we really made it difficutl for them to score. And we really responded well to their run."
With the victory, Richmond (7-2) won its first two road games for the first time since the 2001-02 season. The win was also the fourth-straight for the Spiders.
The Richmond Spiders will hit the road on Saturday and travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to face Wake Forest on ESPN3. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
