Spiders Travel To Indy For First Meeting With Butler

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond travels to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse to face the Butler Bulldogs Saturday at 2 p.m.

come into Saturday's game on a two-game win-streak, with their most recent
victory coming agains Saint Louis, 67-62, Wednesday. Darress McClung, the
league's third-leading scorer, paces Butler with 16.9 ppg. McClung went
11-for-12 from the field in the win over SLU, scoring a game-high 22 points.
McClung also pulled down a team-high nine boards. McClung nearly averages a
double-double, as she corrals a team-high 9.3 boards per game. McClung is
shooting 45 percent from the field, and 33 percent from long-range. Taylor
Schippers follows with 13.0 ppg and team-high 40 three-pointers. Liz Stratman
rounds out the double-figures with 11.5 ppg. Stratman is second on the team
with 6.2 rpg. Butler is shooting 40 percent from the field and is averaging
14.6 apg, which ranks third in the A-10. Butler's 6.0 blocks per game is tops
in the league.

Richmond
edged its cross-town rival VCU for its second-straight win, 66-62, Wednesday
night at the Robins Center. Three Spiders scored in double-figures, led by
Rachael Bilney's 17 points and five three-pointers. It was the Spiders'
fifth-straight win over the rival Rams. The Spiders are led by King's 13.4 ppg,
with Bilney following at 11.4 ppg. Becca Wann comes off the bench to contribute
10.4 ppg and leads the team with 77 assists. The Spiders are shooting 39
percent fromt he field and 32 percent from long range. Richmond has made 73
percent of its free-throws.
The Teams
Saturday
marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Butler, along with VCU,
are new members to the A-10 this year. Butler comes into the game with a 16-10,
7-4 mark. The Bulldogs are currently in sixth place in the A-10 standings.
Richmond (14-13, 4-7) is in a three-way tie for ninth.
