PAINESVILLE, Ohio - One day can make a difference. Last night at this time, we didn't know what direction we were heading. We didn't know if all of us or none of us would wake with a twisted stomach. Uncertainty ruled.
I'll credit our 400 IMers for getting us on track. Meredith, Mariel, and Molly set the tone for the whole team. Their bravery calmed all nerves and put us on the path to recovery.
Instead of stacking any one event, we spread the group out evenly today. After prelims, I hosted the greedy thought that we could win every event tonight. Last night, we proved the depth of our talent pool; we could prove our top-end talent tonight. It didn't happen, but the women swam very well.
Natalya deserves recognition for crushing the 200 Free. Nat is a freshman and took charge in a veteran field. She swam her race in the morning, but played her opponents game at night - and won. She was fast in setting new A10 and UR records.
