XC Earns 11th Straight USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's and women's cross country team continued their tradition of academic excellence, earning the USTFCCA Division I All-Academic team honors for the eleventh consecutive year.
Along with the team awards, Jill Prentice received individual All-Academic recognition, as announced on Monday.
"We are very happy for our teams and proud of their accomplishments in the classroom. Every year we set this honor as a goal for our program and our men and women make the effort required to achieve the success," said head coach Steve Taylor.
Richmond's teams were one of 200 Division I cross-country teams to earn All-Academic status. The women's team recorded a grade point average of 3.15 through
the fall semester. Fellow Atlantic 10 teams, Butler, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Saint Joseph's , Temple, Dayton, UMass, and Charlotte, also earned the honor.
The men's team earned a grade point average of 3.29. They join fellow A-10 squads, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Temple, Dayton, and Charlotte on the list.
To be named as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team had to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better, as well as a minimum of five runners at its respective NCAA regional championship.
"It's part of the tradition established by our tremendous alumni and the tradition that continues to be carried on by our current student-athletes. For the 11th consecutive year our men and women have achieved this award, exemplifying the importance our teams place on their primary purpose for being here at Richmond - to earn a quality education. It's quite impressive when you pause to reflect that for 11 years the men and women have maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.0," said Taylor.
Prentice, an accounting major, earned USTFCCA All-Academic Honors after finishing 16th at the NCAA Southeast regional.
To qualify for an the All-Academic individual award, an athlete must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have finished in the NCAA region's top 15 or top ten percent in 2012.
She was distinguished amongst the list of 115 student-athletes representing 69 institutions.
