Richmond Wins Third-Straight With Victory Over GW

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior guard Cedrick Lindsay scored a game-high 19 points, while senior Greg Robbins came up with big play after big play to help Richmond defeat the George Washington Colonials, 73-64, in a key Atlantic 10 contest at the Robins Center Wednesday night.
With the victory, the Spiders improve to 17-11 on the season overall and to 7-6 in A-10 conference play. George Washington falls to 12-14 on the year and to 6-7 in league action.
While Lindsay led the way for the Spiders, Robbins had a great game, totaling 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting to go with three rebounds. Senior Darien Brothers chipped in 12 in the victory.
The Spiders trailed by 14 midway through the first half, before coming back to tie the game at 36 at the break. Richmond then fell behind by nine less than four minutes into the second half, but again fought their way back, going on a 26-10 run that gave Richmond a 10-point lead with 1:10 left.
Freshman Terry Allen continued his strong play of late, netting four points to go with a team-best seven rebounds and three steals. Junior forward Derrick Williams added eight points, going 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
The Spiders improved to 14-2 at home this season, matching the 2009-10 team for the second most home wins in school history. Richmond will have a chance to match the school record for home wins in its regular-season finale against Duquesne on March 9.
The Richmond Spiders will look to extend its three-game winning-streak on Saturday when the team travels to Ohio to face the Dayton Flyers. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
