Cook and Yang Reign In A-10 Weekly Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Katherine Cook was named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week while freshman Kelley Yang garnered Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Cook captured the award after sweeping the diving events and setting a new school record in the 3-meter (306.83) against Villanova last Friday. Her 3-meter performance is currently the third highest score in the Atlantic 10. In the 1-meter Cook earned a score of 274.05, the second highest score in the A-10.
The award is the first of Cook's career.
Yang received the Rookie of the Week nod for the second week in a row after finishing first in the 100 fly (54.97) and second in the 200 fly( 2:02.98). In both events Yang posted her career best time. Her 100 fly split is currently the fastest in the conference. She also swam on the 200 medley relay which took first place and the 400 freestyle relay which took second.
The Spiders will spend the next two weeks preparing for the Atlantic 10 Championships on February 20-23 in Geneva, Ohio.
