Spiders Host Charlotte For Senior Day Sunday

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond hosts Charlotte for Senior Day Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Robins Center.
Scouting Charlotte
The 49ers come into Sunday's contest
with a 23-4 mark, 12-1 in A-10 play. Charlotte has already secured a
first-round bye in next week's A-10 Tournament. The 49ers have won a
school-record 12 games in a row and is having one of the best seasons in school
history. Charlotte is led by Jennifer Hailey's 15.7 ppg, 12.0 rpg. Hailey is
third in the league in scoring, first in rebounds. Teammate Amanda Dowe scores
10.6 ppg and is second in the league with 11.1 rpg. Hailey is connecting on 51
percent of her shots from the field, good for second in the league, tops on the
team. Ny Hammonds rounds out the double-figure scoring with 10.4 ppg. Hillary
Sigmon has made a team-best 58 threes and is shooting at a 39 percent clip from
long-range. Charlotte is grabbing a league-high 42.2 rebounds per game,
spearheaded by the efforts of Hailey and Dowe. Charlotte looks for its ninth
win in a row over the Spiders Sunday.
Richmond Lately
Richmond built a big lead against
Rhode Island and held on late to down the Rams, 60-50, for their
fourth-straight win Wednesday. The four-game win-streak is a season-long for
the Spiders. Should Richmond win Sunday, it would be the longest win streak since Jan. of last season. The Spiders are led by King's 13.4 ppg,
with Bilney following at 11.6 ppg. Becca Wann comes off the bench to contribute
10.4 ppg and leads the team with 87 assists. Liz Brown's 46 blocks this season
ranks third in a single-season in the Spider record books. The Spiders are
shooting 40 percent from the field and 32 percent from long range. Richmond has
made 74 percent of its free-throws. Richmond is 16-13 on the season and 6-7 in
the A-10 standings.
The Teams
Richmond trails 1-9 in the series
meetings with the 49ers and have dropped eight-straight to Charlotte.
Richmond's lone win came at home in 2006. The Spiders are 1-3 against Charlotte
in the Robins Center.
