ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Kara Moschetti scored four goals, but Richmond fell at No. 19 Navy, 12-8, Saturday in Annapolis.
Richmond jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a free position by Moschetti and an unassisted tally from Jennifer Zoltoski. Richmond held a two-goal lead before Navy scored five-straight goals to take a 7-4 lead with nine minutes remaining in the first half.
Richmond responded, with two goals to close the half to slash the deficit to a 7-6 Navy advantage at the break.
Richmond started the second frame just like the first, with the two quick goals both being unassisted scores from Caitlin Fifield and Moschetti. Richmond's lead was short-lived as Navy countered four minutes later to knot the game at 8-all.
The Mids would then score four more goals to put the game out of reach.
Moschetti led Richmond with four goals, while Fifield added two. Zoltoski and Sam Stevenson added the other scores for Richmond.
The Spiders picked up 14 ground balls, with senior captain Tara Coyle grabbing a team-high six ground balls. Coyle also caused a team-high three turnovers.
