Elizabeth Sims A-10 Championship Blog Day 3
04/21/2013 | Women's Tennis
Today was a great end to a successful season for the Richmond Spiders. We put up a great fight against VCU and competed with so much heart on the court. The VCU Rams played fast-paced tennis which really made us elevate our game. We started out great in doubles, playing the best we did all tournament. We had aggressive, exciting points which kept the games close. Everyone fought hard in singles. Mel came back in the first set, and Anna won her first set. I'm so proud of the team to have competed so strongly and loss with good sportsmanship.
Although it's hard to end the season without the championship, we left Charlottesville in good spirits. We battled tough opponents and several injuries this season which made us all stronger in the end. We grew so much both in our games and as a team that it makes us all very optimistic for next year! It was hard for everyone to say goodbye to the seniors, but we know that we will all keep in touch, which makes saying goodbye a little bit easier. We're all looking forward to officially ending the season at Mark's house for our annual team dinner, finishing off the meal with his wife Shannon's famous Apple Crisp. We look forward to it all season long... literally.
Another great A-10 tournament with a little bit of drama, a whole lot of fight, and a closer, stronger team!
