Richmond Earns Berth To A-10 Tournament

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team fell in its regular season finale on Saturday at The Diamond, 5-0, in a rain-shortened eight innings.
Despite the setback, Richmond made the Atlantic 10 Tournament with losses by both Saint Jospeh's and Butler. The Spiders will be the No. 7 seed in the conference championship and will No. 2-seeded Charlotte on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
With the loss, Richmond ends the regular season with an overall record of 30-22 and a 13-11 mark in Atlantic 10 conference play. VCU's season ends with an overall record of 28-26 and a 12-12 record in league action.
Offensively, seniors Jacob Mayers and Matt Zink each had a hit for the Spiders. Junior Nick Poulos, junior Adam Forrer and freshman Doug Kraeger also had singles for Richmond in the setback.
On the mound, Mayers (4-2) allowed three runs in his five innings pitched, striking out five. Junior RHP Andrew Brockett allowed one earned run in 2.1 innings, striking out four.
