UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond swimming team posted a program-high 3.51 GPA for the 2013 spring semester as announced by the school Thursday.
“The women are probably the least impressed by this feat,” said head coach Matt Barany. “The rest of us should be impressed. What they do daily to perform well in the classroom and win a championship for Richmond should be valued, cheered, and recognized. They represent this program in the best fashion. Simply, they make sacrifices and they work their butts off.”
Ten student-athletes posted 3.50 or better GPA's for the spring semester.
Reigning A-10 Most Outstanding Performer Mali Kobelja posted a perfect 4.0 GPA to lead the Spiders and was tabbed to this year's All Conference All-Academic team. Additionally, Mina Vucic recorded a 3.75 GPA and was also named to the A-10 All Academic team. Not to be outdone, freshman Melissa Ross posted a 3.92 spring mark while sophomore Anne Marie Bilott contributed with a 3.77 GPA.
Richmond won its conference-record 11th A-10 title in the last 12 years at this year's A-10 Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
