Postgame Quotes: No.14/15 Richmond 34, VMI 0
09/01/2013 | Football
Richmond Head Coach Danny Rocco
Opening Statement:
“Obviously we're happy we won. It was an unusual and unique night for football. The outcome was a good outcome and we played dominating football. We didn't really play well on offense. We were very inconsistent. [Michael] Strauss played well enough to win and he showed what he was capable of doing. Defensively, we were there for 60 minutes. That was extremely encouraging. It is very difficult to pitch a shutout. I was very pleased with the defense. I thought we forced them to do some stuff they weren't comfortable doing thus we really controlled the game defensively. We came in and hit our extra points and field goals which was a huge plus.”
WR Ben Edwards
On season-opening win:
“It was really important we got this win. We've been very motivated since last season and we're going to try to keep our confidence up as we head into North Carolina State.”
DL Kerry Wynn
On season opener:
“We were riding a big momentum wave towards the end of last season with the last four wins of the season. We were excited to get this win heading into North Carolina State.”
RB Jacobi Green
On running game:
"I thought it was really effective. We were really motivated and kept pushing through to the next play.”
VMI Head Coach Sparky Woods
Opening statement:
“I credit Richmond on a stellar performance. We just did not play well. I credit Richmond for making those plays but we can do without some of those penalties. We wish Richmond well all the way through. I think they have a good team. I thought they did coming in here. I thought we would have to play almost mistake-free to be in the game with them and we did not do that.”
