
Spiders Start Four-Game Road Swing In New York

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond field hockey team hits the road as it travels to New York to face Hoftra and Columbia this weekend. The Spiders will face the Hoftra Pride Friday at 3 p.m., before heading to the Columbia Lions Sunday at 12 p.m.
This weekend starts a four-game road swing for the Spiders.
Richmond is coming off two-straight shut outs this past weekend after outscoring its opponents, 7-0, to improve to 2-4 on the season. Senior goalkeeper Anna Zarkoski was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Player of the Week after picking up 22 saves, including 17 at No. 5 Virginia.
Hoftra enters Friday coming off two overtime contests this past weekend, falling to Rider and defeating Yale. The Pride are 3-4 and are led by Jonel Boileau with six goals, two assists, 14 points and 25 shots. Kaitlyn De Turo will be in goal for Hofstra as she holds the 3-4 record and has allowed 19 goals with a 2.64 goals against average far this season.
After hosting Brown Friday, the Lions will welcome the Spiders to the Columbia Field Hockey Venue. Columbia is 2-2 this season and has dropped two-straight, including a 9-2 loss to No. 2 Maryland. Katie Ruesterholz with three goals and an assist, good for seven points lead the Lions. Kimberly Pianucci will be in goal as she boasts the 2-2 record with 40 saves and 13 goals allowed.
In addition to live stats both games, Hoftra will provide live audio for Friday's matchup.
