Field Hockey Continues On The Road This Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond field hockey team continues on the road this week starting Thursday when it travels to Longwood, before heading to No. 15-ranked Wake Forest Sunday afternoon. Start times are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
The Spiders are currently on a four-game winning streak after picking up two quality road wins this past weekend at Hofstra and Columbia.
Junior Rebecca Barry led Richmond with three goals, including two game winners, and one assist for a seven-point week and was named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week. Freshman Emma Johansson was named A-10 Rookie of the Week as she notched a goal and an assist in the Spiders 4-0 win over the Pride.
The Longwood Lancers are coming off a split weekend as it boasts a 3-5 overall record. The Lancers defeated Radford 3-2 on the road last Tuesday, before falling to then-No. 14 Temple, 3-2, in Philadelphia, Pa.
Stacey de Grandhomme leads Longwood with seven goals, an assist and 15 points, while Kaye Goulding will be in goal as she holds the 3-4 record with 20 goals allowed and 40 saves on the year.
Richmond will complete the weekend at Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., Sunday on Wake Forest's campus. The Demon Deacons (6-2) are ranked No. 15 in this week's poll as they have only lost two games so far this season. Wake Forest's two losses came from No. 2 Maryland and No. 13 Iowa.
Anna Kozniuk leads the Deacs with five goals, three assists and 13 points, while Valerie Dahmen will be in goal. The keeper has collected 578 minutes between the posts and holds a 1.70 goals-against average with only allowing 14 goals this season.
