THE SERIES
This is the 21st meeting between the two teams and Richmond leads 14-6 in a series that dates back to 1987. The Spiders and the Explorers last met Jan. 7, 2013 when Richmond used a late run to clinch the 67-62 victory. The Spiders have won the last eight meetings over La Salle.
THE SPIDERS
The Spiders are coming off a 53-48 loss to St. Bonaventure in its second meeting against the Bonnies this season. Richmond is 9-11 overall and 3-4 in the A-10 as it heads on its 13th contest away from the Robins Center. The Spiders are shooting 38.2 percent from the floor and are averaging 8.8 steals per game, which ranks third overall in the conference.
THE EXPLORERS
The Explorers enter Wednesday 9-10 on the season and 5-2 in the conference as they have won five of their last seven games. La Salle's two A-10 losses were against St. Bonaventure (85-35) and Saint Joseph's (64-52). The Explorers are shooting 35.7 percent from the field and are led by Alicia Cropper and Micahya Owens with 13.2 ppg.
LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Janelle Hubbard matched her career-high 19 points to lead both teams for her second-straight game with 19 points at the Richmond women's basketball team fell to St. Bonaventure, 53-49, Saturday afternoon. She also came up with two steals and three assists, while senior Kristina King followed with 10 points and seven rebounds. Genevieve Okoro led the team with 10 rebounds. The Spiders shot 92.3 percent from the free throw line with the help of sinking all five free throws in the second half. Richmond forced 17 turnovers, which it capitalized on 12 points.
HEALY NAMED A-10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK JAN. 27
Playing 30 minutes against Saint Louis, Healy led both teams with 22 points, which was a career high that lifted the Spiders over the Billikens for their third A-10 victory. The Reading, Mass., native went 10-of-18 from the floor and also led Richmond with nine rebounds. This was her second-straight contest with 20 or more points. This is the first honor for Healy in her young career and the first A-10 weekly award for the Spiders since Dec. 10 2012 when Becca Wann was named A-10 Player of the Week.
