10/14/2014 | Women's Swimming & Diving
Richmond freshman swimmer Annie Lane (Vinton, Virginia) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming and Diving Rookie Performer of the Week. With the Spiders opening the season last weekend, this is the team's first weekly conference award of the season.
Lane made the most of her first collegiate meet, helping the Spiders to wins over Old Dominion and UNC Wilmington this weekend at the UNCW Natatorium. She won the first individual meet of the weekend, the 1000 Free (10:27.58) and then later winning the 200 Free (1:54.51) and 500 Free (5:05.58), posting wins in all three individual events that she swam for the team. She also appeared in two team relays for Richmond in their pair of wins.
Richmond will host its first meet of the season and lone event of the fall semester this weekend in the Richmond Duals. The Spiders will face new A-10 foe Davidson Friday, while George Mason takes on Duquesne in the other women's heat, with the highest and lowest scores from the heats paired up to face off on Saturday. The George Mason and Davidson men will also compete with one another Friday and Saturday.
