Spider Baseball Hosts 20-Plus MLB Scouts
10/07/2014 | Baseball
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team welcomed scouts from over 20 MLB teams to Pitt Field on Monday for the program's annual Scout Day.
After running the 60-yard dash, the players then showed off their defensive skills before taking two rounds of batting practice. After that, it was time for the pitchers, who each threw 12 pitches from the mound in front of the scouts.
“It was great to see so many scouts out there to take a look at the talent we have,” Richmond head coach Tracy Woodson said. “The feedback from them was great. We had some older guys that showed really well and they liked a lot of our freshmen. It'll be interesting to see how the young guys develop over the next couple of years and getting them out in front of the scouts definitely helps them.”
