Swimming And Diving Together At Patriot Invite
11/19/2014 | Women's Swimming & Diving
After splitting up for their last action in the water, the Richmond Spiders swimming and diving teams are back together to finish off the fall semester of competition this weekend at the Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason. The meet runs Thursday to Saturday in Fairfax.
The meet is the only one with a conference tournament-type format, with preliminary and finals heats, giving the Spiders a metric with which to measure themselves and help the team set their goals for the January and February meets leading up to the Atlantic 10 Championships in late February.
Richmond will compete against American, George Mason, George Washington, Howard, Seton Hall, Shippensburg, UMBC and UNC Wilmington in the event this weekend.
The top 16 places in each event will score points for their respective team, including the 1m and 3m diving events.
The season continues after the winter break as the divers will compete at the Tennessee Diving Invitational the first weekend of 2015. The team competes again as a whole January 10 at Virginia Tech.
