Spider Swimmers Downed At William & Mary Sat.

Richmond swimming returned to the pool Saturday with a dual swimming meet at William & Mary, with the Tribe besting the Spiders 161-101 at the
The Spiders grabbed two points in the 200 Medley Relay before senior Meredith Gouger (Cockeysville, Maryland) and junior Emma Terwilliger (Niskayna, New York) finished second and third, respectively, in the first individual event of the morning, the 1000 Free. Gouger later scored in the 200 Breast and Terwilliger added points in the 500 Free.
Freshman Annie Lane (Vinton, Virginia / William Bird HS) got Richmond's first individual event win of the day by winning the 200 Free with a time of 1:54.73. She also took victory in the 500 Free with a 5:06.20 performance. She had previously won the A-10 Swimming and Diving Rookie Performer of the Week.
Sophomore Maggie Pope (Nashville, Tennessee) took a first-place finish with a 58.01 in the 100 Back, her second win in that event this season.
Freshman Erin Barry (Millington, New Jersey) was second in the 100 Breast, but won the 200 Breast with a 2:22.36 later in the meet.
The 100 Fly was taken by Spider junior Kelley Yang (Ellicott City, Maryland) with a time of 57.48.
Freshman Hannah Verrette (Marblehead, Massachusetts) finished first in the 200 IM at 2:09.59 just three events after taking second in the 200 Back, at 2:05.90, just a half-second back of first.
Richmond will take the swimmers and divers to Fairfax for the Patriot Invite, hosted by George Mason November 20-22.
