Postgame Quotes - Maine 33, No. 8/8 Richmond 20
11/09/2014 | Football
“Maine played the game they way they had to play it to give them the best chance to win. They controlled the ball, they ran their quarterback, they possessed the ball, kept it away from our offense, took some shots down the field, but in many ways they really controlled the tempo pretty much the whole game. After the first drive, I think Maine really settled in defensively. It was a whole different football game. “
-- Richmond head coach Danny Rocco
“Our special teams were really pathetic today. We take the first drive of the game, go down and score and we miss an extra point – kind of like an omen of things to come. We fumble a kickoff return and give them a short field. We have a punt blocked for a touchdown. We did pretty much everything that you aren't supposed to do when you go on the road, in a situation like this game.”
-- Coach Rocco on the UR's special teams
“We took the ball and went right down the field. That would lead you to think that we had the kind of focus that you need to play that kind of game. We had a chance to go up two scores, but everything started to go sideways on us. I can't say that we played our worst game, but we came up here and played our worst game.”
-- Coach Rocco on if the team wasn't focused for game vs. Maine
