THE SERIES
This is the 32nd meeting between the two teams in a series that dates back to 1985. The Spiders holds the 31-10 all-time advantage. The last time Richmond and UNC Wilmington met was a year ago when the Spiders defeated the Seahawks 64-49 at the Robins Center.
THE SPIDERS
The Spiders are coming off an impressive 79-72 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons this past Sunday that snapped a four-game losing streak. Richmond kicks off a five-game road swing - its longest of the season - against the Seahawks are look to pick up its first road victory. Junior Lauren Tolson leads three Spiders in double figures with 12.6 ppg.
THE SEAHAWKS
After picking up two wins to start the season, the Seahawks are looking to snap a four-game losing streak Wednesday against the Spiders. UNCW is coming off a 59-53 loss to VCU this past Sunday. Two Seahawks are averaging double figures as Kelva Atkins leads the squad with 16.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg. Despite the four losses, UNCW averages 10.2 steals per game and hold a +3.2 turnover margin.
LAST TIME OUT
A career-high performance of 24 points by senior forward Liz Brown helped lift the Spiders over Wake Forest, 79-72, this past Sunday at the Robins Center. Brown went 8-of-9 from the floor, including a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range to tally the career high and to lead all players. She also grabbed seven rebounds, two blocks and two assists in the win. Four other Spiders charted double figures charted double figures: Genevieve Okoro had a season-high 13 rebounds, Janelle Hubbard scored 14 points, Lauren Tolson added 12 points and Olivia Healy followed with 10 points.
BROWN FROM DOWNTOWN
The Spiders are coming off an impressive 79-72 win over ACC foe Wake Forest this past Sunday thanks to senior forward Liz Brown. The Baltimore, Md., native scored a career-high 24 points as she was perfect from behind the arc and knocked down four three-pointers. On the season, Brown is 12-for-20 for a team-high 60 percent from three-point range. For her efforts versus Wake Forest, Brown was named College Sports Madness A-10 Player of the Week on Monday, Dec. 15.
HOTT IN THE ACC
After defeating Wake Forest this season, the Spiders have made their mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference and improved their all-time record to 12-11 since the 2003 season. Richmond is on a three-game win streak against ACC foes as it defeated the Miami Hurricanes and the Virginia Tech Hokies.
