THE SERIES
This is the first meeting between the two teams as the Spiders hit the road for the third time this season.
THE SPIDERS
The Spiders are coming off a 77-67 victory over UNC Wilmington this past Wednesday for their first road win of the season. Richmond is shooting 42.1 percent from the floor and are averaging 6.3 three-pointers a game. Junior Lauren Tolson leads three Spiders in double figures with 13.0 point per game, while Genevieve Okoro leads the team with 8.6 rebounds per game.
THE COLONELS
The Colonels are coming off a 62-56 victory over Alabama A&M Wednesday after falling to ETSU last Saturday. EKU averages 58.3 points per game and is getting outscored -1.8 so far this year. The Colonels are shooting 38.4 percent from the floor and 64.3 percent from the free throw line. Michaela Hunter is the only Colonel in double figures as she leads the team with 14.4 points per game and 15 steals. Shelly Harper leads EKU with 7.6 rebounds per game.
LAST TIME OUT
A hot first half led the Spiders over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 77-67, Wednesday evening at Trask Coliseum. Five Spiders recorded double figures in the win. Richmond came out hot in the first half as they went 7-of-8 in the first six minutes and led by as many as 20 points at the 9:02 mark to improve 5-4 on the season. Janelle Hubbard knocked down 10 of the sophomore's 16 points in the first 10 minutes of play as she made her second start of the season. UNCW came as close as five twice in the final three minutes up play but Richmond held onto the win as they hit five-straight points to end the game.
NEW AND IMPROVED LT
After averaging 5.8 points per game in 22.9 minutes per game last season, junior Lauren Tolson leads the Spiders with 13.0 points per game as she has started all nine games. The Fredrick, Md., native is shooting 41 percent from the floor, 32 percent from three-point range and 81.3 percent from the free throw line. In addition to her scoring threat, Tolson averages 4.7 rebounds per game and has 11 assists. She helped the Spiders to an 80-50 win over Longwood with a career-high 21 points and almost matched that in the loss to Hampton with a game-high 20. Tolson has tallied seven double-digit scoring games, including two over 20.

Richmond will hit the road again next Sunday, Dec. 28 when it travels to William & Mary for a 2 p.m. tip.
