UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team begins the 2014 season at the North Florida Tournament on February 14.
Leading up the Opening Day, RichmondSpiders.com will introduce Spider fans to all 30 Richmond players as well as the coaching staff with the “Meet the Spiders” series.

RS.com: What do you tell recruits about Richmond?
Tanner Biagini: You cannot beat the education you have the opportunity to receive here at Richmond. You will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful campus and on top of those two things you get a chance to play on a pretty good baseball team with teammates that will become your family.
RS: Three words that describe you best…
TB: Resilient, hard-working and dedicated
RS: Favorite MLB player of all-time?
TB: Cal Ripken Jr.
RS: Any pregame superstitions?
TB: Prayer, a lot of handshakes with different players and I always give thanks to those who served our country during the National Anthem.
RS: One thing most people don't know about you?
TB: I love animals; if it wasn't for baseball I would have been a vet or a zoologist. At home my wife and I have a fish tank, a habitat for our box turtle, and a dog.
RS: Biggest accomplishment?
TB: Graduating from VMI without killing someone.
RS: Best piece of advice you've been given?
TB: “When you fall out of the boat, the first thing you should do is take control of your own rescue.” –Barry Shelton, Franklin County High School Head Baseball Coach
RS: Longest road trip you've been on?
TB: As coach it has to be to Rhode Island or UMass… those trips seem to take forever.
RS: Favorite sport other than baseball?
TB: Basketball
RS: Favorite road trip food/meal?
TB: Delaware House Rest Area off of I-95. I always go with a burrito and chips from Baja Express.
RS: Best baseball memory?
TB: Coaching players and watching them grow as baseball players and as people.
