Four In Double Figures As Spiders Beat Fordham

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Kendall Anthony posted his fourth-straight 20-point game and freshman ShawnDre' Jones had a career-high 14 as Richmond defeated Fordham 82-70 Saturday night in a sold-out Robins Center.
The victory is the Spiders' third straight and moves Richmond to 17-8 overall and 7-3 in the Atlantic 10. The Spiders are in a two-way tie for third with Saint Joseph's, a half game behind second-place VCU. Richmond hosts George Washington (19-6, 7-4 Atlantic 10) on Tuesday.
Anthony made two three-pointers and all 10 of his free throw attempts to score a team-high 24 points. It was his fourth-straight game with at least 20 points and he is averaging 25.8 points per game in that stretch.
Jones made 5-of-9 field goals, including 2-of-5 three-pointers as he scored a career-high 14 points in 21 minutes. The freshman has scored at least 13 points in each of the last three games since taking on an expanded role after the loss of Richmond leading-scorer Cedrick Lindsay for the season.
Sophomore Deion Taylor scored 13 points, making 4-of-7 field goals and 2-of-4 three-pointers. Fellow sophomore Trey Davis scored 11 points, making all five of his field goal attempts and grabbing seven a team-high seven rebounds.
Sophomores Terry Allen and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa each scored seven points, while junior Wayne Sparrow and freshman Josh Jones each connected on clutch three-pointers.
The Spiders only had seven turnovers and shot 51.9 percent from the field. It was the second-straight game that Richmond had four players in double-figures.
Richmond's showdown with rival George Washington on Tuesday will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network at 7 p.m.
