Richmond women's lacrosse heads to Charlottesville Wednesday for its first weeknight game of the season, at ninth-ranked Virginia, with opening draw at 5 p.m. The Spiders enter with a record of 1-1 and are playing their second Top 10 opponent in a row. The Cavaliers are 0-2, playing their first unranked opponent of the season.
The game was moved to the University Hall Turf Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Tickets for the game may be purchased at the box office at Turf Field starting one hour prior to the game, however all sales are CASH ONLY. Tickets can also be purchased in advance on the VirginiaSports.com website.
General admission adult tickets for women's home games are $5, while youth (18 and under), seniors (60 and over), and UVa. faculty and staff tickets are $4 each.
Virginia lost to No. 2 Northwestern and No. 9 Loyola so far this season. The Spiders dropped their last game to No. 2 Maryland on Sunday after winning the season opener at home the weekend before.
In two games, the Spiders have four players with three or more goals, with four goals each from juniors Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) and Anna Jeszick (Cortlandt manor, N.Y.) to lead the team. Doyle has four of the five assists this season.
This week, the Atlantic 10 Conference named freshman Emily Castle (Annapolis, Md.) its first Rookie of the Week this season. Through the first two games, Castle has scored three goals on five shots and is tied for the team lead with four ground balls.
Through two games, Richmond has one fewer goal than opponents, one more shot on goal (in the same number of overall shot attempts), one more draw control, three fewer turnovers and the same number of caused turnovers this season.
Virginia has lost its two games by a combined five goals. This is the second of a five-game home stand for the Cavaliers.
This game is the second of a four-game road trip for the Spiders, who will return home on Tuesday, March 11, with a 3 p.m. contest against Notre Dame at Robins Stadium.
