Spiders Play At George Mason Wednesday At 7 P.M.

FAIRFAX, Va. – Richmond plays at longtime rival George Mason on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a game televised on MASN and SNY.
This is the first conference meeting between the Spiders (18-9, 8-4 Atlantic 10) and Patriots (9-17, 2-10 A10) since the 2000-01 season. Richmond holds a 34-17 advantage in the all-time series, but George Mason won last season on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Sherrod Wright at the Richmond Coliseum.
The Patriots have had a week off since an overtime loss to Saint Louis on Feb. 19. It was the second OT loss to the No. 10 ranked Billikens this season. Mason has lost two straight at home after winning two-straight on the road at Duquesne and UMass. Wright leads the team in scoring at 15.6 points per game. Byron Allen is averaging 15.5 points per game and shooting 39.5 percent from 3.

• The Spiders have won 4 of the last 5 since losing both seniors for the remainder of the season. Richmond is coming off a 62-49 victory over La Salle in which the Spiders held the Explorers to just 32.7 percent shooting and only 14 points in the paint.
• Richmond is 44th in the RPI with five wins over top-100 RPI teams, including one top-15 RPI win over UMass (13).
• Sophomore Terry Allen scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in the win over La Salle. Allen, who has scored in double-figures in 4 of the last 5 games, is averaging 19.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in the last 2 contests. He has grabbed 9 rebounds in 3 of the last 4 games and is averaging 14.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in the last 5 games.
• Freshman ShawnDre' Jones scored a career-high 25 points against George Washington last Tuesday and has scored in double-figures in five-straight games, averaging 15.0 points per game and shooting 54.1 percent from 3 (13-of-24) in that stretch. Jones is fourth in the A-10 in three-point percentage (.426). He is second in the A-10 in three-point percentage in conference play (.500/18-36) and sixth in the conference in field goal percentage in A-10 play (.559). Jones was averaging 7.0 minutes per game through the first 21 games and is averaging 23.8 minutes per game in the last 5 games.
• Richmond lost both seniors for the season when Cedrick Lindsay tore a meniscus in both knees and Derrick Williams left the team for personal reasons. The Spiders are one of the youngest teams in the country with no seniors in uniform and only 2 juniors that see action.
• Richmond is 54-30 vs. A-10 teams over the last 5 seasons and has played in 2 of the last 4 Atlantic 10 title games. The Spiders have won the second most games in the Atlantic 10 over the last 7 years of any current A-10 member (67) behind only Saint Louis.
• Richmond has held the opposition to 64 points or less in regulation in 11 of the last 15 games and 14 of 27 this season. The Spiders are second in the A-10 in scoring defense, allowing 65.3 ppg. Richmond is second in the A-10 and 9th in the nation in three-point FG pct. defense (.290). The Spiders are 2nd in the A-10 in FG pct. defense (.407).
• Kendall Anthony has been Atlantic 10 Player of the Week in 2 of the last 5 weeks. Anthony leads the Atlantic 10 in scoring in conference play at 19.0 ppg. He is sixth on UR's career list for threes (196) and has scored in double-figures in 19-straight games. He was just the 13th Spider to score 1,000 points as a junior and he is 27th on UR's scoring list with 1,219 points. Anthony is 4th on UR's career list for 3-point pct (.401).
• The Spiders continue to get contributions from their 4 sophomore forwards Terry Allen, Trey Davis, Alonzo Nelson-Ododa and Deion Taylor. At least one of the four sophomores has scored in double-figures in the last 4 games and all 4 of scored in double-figures at least once in the last four games. Terry Allen had 16 pts and 9 rebs vs. GW.
