UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – With Opening Day just a week away, three University of Richmond Spiders earned preseason honors this week.
Sophomore OF Tanner Stanley was named First-Team Preseason All-Atlantic 10, while senior OF/INF Nick Poulos and senior RHP Andrew Blum were named Second-Team Preseason All A-10.
Additionally, the Atlantic 10 conference office announced the preseason predicted order of finish as voted on by the league's coaches.
Reigning A-10 champion Saint Louis was picked first with 143 points, followed by VCU with 122 and Rhode Island with 104. The Spiders were picked to finish fourth in the league, followed by conference newcomer George Mason.
“We are looking forward to the challenge that the A-10 will be this year,” Richmond head coach Tracy Woodson remarked. “I think getting picked fourth in the league will serve as motivation to our players this season. We can't wait to get started next week.”
The Richmond Spiders begin the 2014 season on February 14 in Jacksonville when the team plays Missouri in the first game of the UNF Best Bet Classic.
