Richmond Baseball Falls To Quinnipiac, 6-1

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at Pitt Field.
With the loss, Richmond's record drops to 2-9 on the season, while the Bobcats improve to 1-6 on the year.
Out of the bullpen, redshirt junior LHP Dylan Stoops was terrific for the Spiders, retiring 22 of the 23 batters he faces. Stoops pitched 7.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit while striking out eight. RHP Jonathan de Marte (1-2) took the loss for Richmond.
Offensively, sophomore OF Tanner Stanley had a pair of hits including a double, while classmate 1B Doug Kraeger had a RBI in the setback. Senior Adam Forrer, junior Ryan Cook and sophomore Matt Dacey all had one hit for the Spiders.
The Richmond Spiders will wrap up their three-game series with Quinnipiac on Sunday at Pitt Field with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. Game two will begin approximately 30 minutes following game one.
