Hatem Captures ASun Offensive Player Of The Week
04/21/2014 | Men's Lacrosse
Hatem tied for the game-high lead with a career-best three goals in the win over the Dolphins to help secure the postseason berth. His man-up goal with 31 seconds remaining broke open a 12-all tie to clinch the game. His three goals came on four shots on goal and gave him 14 goals for the season. He caused one turnover and picked up a ground ball as well. The Spiders clinched a berth in their first year of Division I men's lacrosse.
Hatem is the first Spider to win the Offensive weekly award in the league.
Hatem joins Brendan Hynes as the other winner of a weekly ASun award, as Hynes captured the Defensive award on March 24.
The Spiders will finish the regular season at VMI on Saturday at noon. A win would secure the three-seed for Richmond and a date with High Point in the opening game of the tournament, to be held at Mercer, on May 1 and 3.
