XC Earns 12th Straight USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's and women's cross country team continued their tradition of academic excellence, earning the USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic team honors for the 12th consecutive year.
Along with the team awards, Marisa Ruskan received individual All-Academic recognition.
"It's part of the tradition established by our tremendous alumni and the tradition that continues to be carried on by our current student-athletes," said head men's cross country coach Steve Taylor. “For the 12th consecutive year our men and women have achieved this award, exemplifying the importance our teams place on their primary purpose for being here at Richmond - to earn a quality education. It's quite impressive when you pause to reflect that for 12 years the men and women have maintained a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
To be named as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team had to have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better, as well as a minimum of five runners at its respective NCAA regional championship.
"We are very happy for our teams and as a staff," said head women's cross country Lori Taylor. “We are proud of their accomplishments in the classroom. Every year we set this honor as a goal for our program and our men and women make the effort required to achieve this high level of success. Both our men and women collectively pursue excellence not only on the cross country course, but within the classroom."
Ruskan, a business major, earned USTFCCA All-Academic Honors after finishing 25th at the NCAA Southeast regional.
To qualify for an the All-Academic individual award, an athlete must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have finished in the NCAA region's top 15 or top ten percent in 2013.
