Spiders Downed In A-10 Championship Game 10-6

Richmond women's lacrosse scored the first two goals, but a run of five-straight from defending champion Massachusetts put the Minutewomen in front to start the season half as UM won the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship 10-6 at Robins Stadium Sunday.
The Spiders finish the season at 11-7, the most wins since taking 11 in 2007.
Junior Emily Doyle (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) scored a pair of goals, including the first of the game in the first minute.
Sophomore Brooke Wilson (Ijamsville, Md.) found the back of the net a little over two minutes later for the 2-0 lead as the Spiders controlled possession for most of the early going.
The teams traded goals over the next four before the five-goal streak by the Minutewomen to end the first and start the second half, leading to a 7-4 Massachusetts lead.
Doyle and junior Anna Jeszeck (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) scored Richmond's pair of second-half goals.
Emily Boyce (Middletown, Md.) made nine more saves to give her 20 for the weekend, allowing 14 total goals in two games. She finishes the year 10-7.
Doyle and Wilson led the team with two goals each, with Jeszeck and sophomore Charlett Stevenson (Darien, Conn.) scoring the other. Stevenson led the team for the season with 35 goals. Jeszeck also had both Richmond assists in the contest to put her at 15 for the season, second only to Doyle's 33.
Richmond won 10 of the 18 draws in the game, with senior Taylor Blazer (Berlin, Md.) winning four to tie the Richmond career mark with 159 in her four seasons.
Doyle, Wilson and Boyce earned spots on the All-Tournament team, as did attack Bailey Zerr (Denver, Colo.) after het three-goal performance on Friday.
