Spider Baseball Hosts St. Bonaventure This Weekend

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team will begin a three-game, Atlantic 10 series against St. Bonaventure on Friday.
The three-game set gets underway on Friday, with first pitch at 3 p.m. Saturday's game will begin at 1 p.m. with the series finale on Sunday slated for a 10 a.m. start. Live stats and live video via SpiderTV will be available for all three games at RichmondSpiders.com.
Senior Day
Senior Day will this Saturday at Pitt Field, with the ceremony beginning shortly before the scheduled first pitch of 1 p.m. Richmond head coach Tracy Woodson and the team will honor its six seniors – Andrew Blum, Adam Forrer, JB Gadd, Cory Moheit, Nick Poulos and Mike Small.

Scouting the Spiders
The Richmond Spiders baseball team comes in to the weekend winners of three-straight and six of their last eight games, pushing their overall record to 21-24-1 on the season.
Richmond comes in to the weekend in seventh place in the Atlantic 10 with a conference mark of 10-11, two games up on UMass and La Salle for the final spot in the conference tournament.
Leading the way offensively for the Spiders this season has been sophomore 1B Doug Kraeger, who is hitting a team-best .317 on the year with a team-high 16 doubles. 3B Matt Dacey leads the team with nine home runs and 37 RBI.
The pitching staff has been paced this season by junior LHP Zak Sterling, who leads the team in wins (4), ERA (2.89), innings pitched (71.2) and strikeouts (53). Junior RHP Ryan Cook has successfully transitioned from the bullpen to a starter, posting a record of 4-1 on the year with five saves.
Scouting the Bonnies
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies come to Richmond having dropped two of their last three games, dropping an A-10 series at home to Rhode Island last weekend. On the year, the Bonnies have posted an overall record of 11-27, including a mark of 5-14 in conference play.
Pitching has been the strength of the Bonnies this season, as the team has posted a team ERA of 5.48 with 188 strikeouts in 325.1 innings pitched. Hitting has been solid for SBU, with the team hitting at a .257 clip with 61 doubles, 14 homers and 165 RBI.
The last time Richmond played St. Bonaventure was back in the 2011 season, when the team swept the Bonnies in a three-game set at Pitt Field.
