07/16/2014 | Women's Lacrosse
The Richmond Spiders women's lacrosse team takes full advantage of resources that the University of Richmond provides during their summer months by studying or taking internships abroad, or staying in the U.S. to take classes and gain work experience. During the summer, the members of the team will be sharing their summer adventures.
This is the next in our Summer Spider Series detailing some of our Spiders' summer adventures. Follow these posts to learn more about a few Spiders and what they have been up to this summer!

Summer Spider Series: Rising senior Anna Jeszeck, a Business Administration major, was selected to intern at LeadDog Marketing group in New York City (NYC) this summer. Hear more about Anna's experience in her own words below…
AJ: This past January, I attended the Spiders Road Trip in Marketing and Communications. It was an intensive, two-day networking trip in New York City. We visited 8 various firms and saw different aspects of the marketing and communications fields. It gave me great exposure and opened my eyes to the real world. Fortunately, I was able to utilize the connections I made while on this trip and I landed an internship at LeadDog Marketing Group! The office is bright and colorful, the view from our patio is amazing, and the staff is young and energetic! In fact, the CEO and president, Dan Mannix, is a Richmond alumnus! This fully integrated agency is known for experiential marketing with clients such as NASCAR, REI, Susan G. Komen, NFL and other well-known brands across the country.
As an intern, I've been working specifically in the account management department. Account managers are liaisons between the client and company. The two accounts I am on are REI and Susan G. Komen Greater NYC. We are given a lot of responsibility and expected to jump right into things. Some responsibilities include confirming vendors, doing outreach, purchasing supplies and updating shipping trackers. I have also had the opportunity to sit in on meetings, tour manager trainings and client calls. Because LeadDog is so willing to let interns play a role in their agency, I feel extremely passionate about both of my accounts! REI is launching its' membership activation program next week in Seattle and Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure is set for September 7, 2014!
One of the most awesome things about LeadDog is the LeadDog Cup. All interns are divided into two teams. We are given a budget and a task of putting on a corporate service event. Each team pitches their idea to senior management, and then the winner actually gets to put on their event. This past Monday we pitched to all of senior management…and even though I was very nervous my team won! We will be hosting LeadDog's first ever World Cup with an organization called Harlem RBI. Not every intern has the opportunity to take charge and see through an entire event, so I am very eager to take on this challenge. The hands-on experiences I have been given has made every day here an exciting one. All in all, I think being a member of the Richmond women's lacrosse team has allowed me to excel throughout my internship. Being a member of a team ties in to everything LeadDog stands for.
I am eager to see where the rest of this ten-week program takes me, but I can only imagine bigger and better things are to come!
