Twice a month, we'll visit with a different Spider student-athlete in the Spider Spotlight.
Meet Lindsay…
Career aspirations: Start my own business.
Three words to describe yourself: Hard working, enthusiastic, compassionate
Most memorable moment as a member of your Spider program: Going into triple overtime against UVA as well as traveling to Ireland and Northern Ireland with the team to play some international hockey.
The best nickname on the team: My personal favorite is Haagen-Dazs! (Allison Haas) Cookie is a pretty awesome nickname too (Amy Cooke).
Strengths: I'd say my speed is one of my strengths on the field.
Toughest opponents: This year, probably Duke and UVA.
Working to improve: I'm always looking to improve something! Right now I'd say it's my reception of lifted balls, tracking, and quick decision making on the field.
Best sports memory: When I scored from the top of the circle against the Mexican National team at a tournament in California this past summer.
Favorite meal: Spaghetti and meatballs. I love a good Italian meal!
Favorite ice cream: Pretty much any kind of fruit sorbet, especially mango.
On your playlist: John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and lots of country music.
Most embarrassing thing on your playlist: Hmm that's hard, I'd say there are plenty of embarrassing things on my playlist haha. Maybe film score music? It gets me in the zone when I'm studying sometimes!
What most people don't know about you: I rode my bike across California with my Dad when I was in 5th grade, and I'm hoping to do the bike ride across America someday.
If you could go on any game show: Probably American Ninja Warrior or Wipeout.
Hidden talent: I did tap dancing a few years and pole vaulting in high school so I guess you could say those are hidden talents!
Dream car: 1964 red convertible Mustang…It has been my dream car for a while now.
If you could travel anywhere in the world: That's hard, there are soo many places I'd love to go and I hope to travel a lot around the world someday. Maybe Germany!
Favorite class: Stories of Work, Life and Fulfillment (My Sophomore Scholars in Residence class). I'll be taking this class with 16 other people and living in the same hall with them. We will all be traveling together to London this December, so that'll be a really great study experience.
Pets: Dog named Sadie and a cat named Molly (Who are best friends by the way!).
Hero: I have always really admired the surfer Bethany Hamilton. Richmond field hockey actually got to see her and her husband speak last year, which was really cool.
Favorite childhood TV show: I don't quite remember, but I know I watched the movie Alice in Wonderland quite a bit!
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive: Jesus.. how cool would that be!?
If you could have any superpower: Flying
