Richmond Falls In Final Minutes, 3-2 at Campbell
08/23/2014 | Women's Soccer
BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Richmond women's soccer took a pair of leads into its first game of the year at Campbell, but the Camels put home the game winner on a free kick with just over three minutes remaining from Ashley Hartert to edge the Spiders 3-2 Friday night to open the 2014 college soccer season.
The free kick, from about 22 yards out, just grazed under the crossbar to kick in and give the Camels the home victory.
“I'm angry about the result, but I am proud of the way our team played and their resiliency and the way we attacked the net and possessed the ball tonight,” said UR head coach Peter Albright.
“We made some bad defensive errors in just a few spots and it cost us the game. I like the way our team is angry about the loss and I appreciate the way they came to work today and the way they have trained hard over the past few weeks.”
